May Family Scripture Study Plan and a few other Ramblings

It's the 1st Sunday of a new month, so of course I'm doing the new month's scripture study plan.  It's been a very busy month.  We went on a trip to the mountains for spring break and it went much, much better than I thought it would!  I didn't know my kids would be good little hikers because we have never attempted a serious hike up a mountain, but we went on a 2 mile hike that had some pretty steep ascents, and a creek we had to cross about 10 times and the kids handled it very well and we all had so much fun on the hike!  Wesley just sat on top of Erick's shoulders the entire time (Erick doesn't use backpack carriers or even strollers and never has) and Erick wasn't even phased from carrying an almost 2 year old up and down a mountain for 2 miles...but then again, he is the Mary Poppins of men--practically perfect in every way.  We also toured the Linville Caverns, went gem mining, went to Tweetsie Railroad, and lots more. Here are a few highlights:

Cora inside of the Linville Caverns

See how steep this hike became!  Cash did great!  He found some sticks that he thought made him look like a Reindeer so he was a Reindeer for the majority of the hike!

Here is a great little spot!

 The waterfall!

 This is pure kid fun!

This is a teepee at Tweetsie

I thought the kids did a great job of running away from an oncoming train!

I'm amazed at how many amazing stories come out of JUST the book of Genesis in the Old Testament!  We spent about 16 weeks in Genesis and now it's time to move on, but I never realized how many beloved bible stories are from that amazing book!  Now we move into Exodus and things really get going!  Here is the May Family Study Plan:  Once again, this is formulated using scriptures suggested by the Old Testament reading challenge from the January 2014 Friend magazine, and for the Friday of each week it is Primary Focus Day where I took ideas from the 2014 Sharing Time Outline.  The memorization scripture for the month is also the Primary scripture of the month.  Enjoy!
