Mom question: What are the things you like to do when you have time for yourself (as rare or frequent as that may be)? What are your hobbies? What are your goals? ps--the above picture is my room-mates and me...five years later!

Wow, what a fun picture! What do I do...I love to go get a pedi-which rarely happens. I am happy just to get out of the house, even if it's just to get gas in the car. I like to do crafts and to read as well. I'm still trying to get Jack to learn that "me/mom time" (away from the rest of the fam. is crucial for my well being..as well as for my kids.
I take really long showers, and I go for a walk with my dog. I also like to paint, or do anything craft worthy. My favorite is when money allows is to start on a home improvement project. I LOVE DOING THAT STUFF!!!!

Stephanie saying that she likes to do home improvement projects is an UNDERSTATEMENT if I have ever heard one. When our families get together usually Nate (her husband) and I end up talking about our favorite recipes and Erick and Steph end up talking about where Steph should knock a hole in the wall for a new bathroom!! Or whatever. Anyways, I am an introvert. I love people, need friends, need to be around people, but I HAVE to have time to myself each day to just be--or I am very irritable and overwhelmed. Right now I have both the kids taking a nap at the same time in the after noon so that usually gives me a couple of hours to check email, pay bills, read, type, and fold laundry (which I actually enjoy doing).
Some days Bryant doesn't want to take a nap so I'll put an hour on the timer and he has to stay in his play room until it beeps or he goes back to his room. It works some times. But most days he naps for me.
Other than that, I love to read and am in a book club, I also like to scrap book and have taken to doing that during nap times too. And every now and then if things are super crazy Erick will order me out of the house and tell me to go shopping. I love that about him!

I'm sort of a combo of what everyone thus far has said....I just like the "little things."
But one thing I don't get any time for is my "craft" time. I have so many projects I want to do, and actually have the stuff for it, but never get to use it...I know, it's horrible.
However, one thing I am getting ready to start doing soon is, learning Spanish. That was one of my New Year's Resolutions this year. I have a friend who said she will teach me so...I can't wait!!
Wasn't it fun to get together (in reference to the photo). As a new mom I haven't really ventured off into things I do just for myself, but I am sure that will come in time. But I must say, whenever I can, I like to read a good book. Maybe when my son gets a little older I can make it through more than just a chapter at a time. Oh, and I too take really long showers.
