One for Fun

If you could live in any home on a TV series, which would it be? Let's think it out.

Growing up it would have most definitely been Full House. I never missed an episode and I still could probably quote some of them while watching. If I could have it my way I would have been the most smokin' hot sister of Uncle Joey. That way I would have been unrelated and completly available to Jesse. I mean, who out there didn't think he was the hottest thing on tv back then. Even if he wasn't really gorgeous, I always had a thing for a guy who could sing. And the second Becky showed up I would have had Michelle shave her head. If you all remember, Jesse was a little obsessed with a perfect head of hair.

I also loved Full House and imagined living there. But I did always think it was a little too... full.
I'm sure I wanted to live in PeeWee's Playhouse. A talking chair?! Heck yeah!
And what about the house on Silver Spoons. Wasn't there a train inside?

I loved the Cosby/Huxtable home. I think that is the home I would have picked.

I wanted to be Clarissa from Clarissa explains it all when I was around nine and ten. I even tried to dress like her and wore big T-shirts and hoop ear rings. Hey, her dad was even an architect like mine!

I used to love the "Full House" house too! For some odd reason though, I always liked the Taylor's house on "Home Improvement"..and I loved that show! :)

In today's TV shows, I would LOVE to have a house like they do on Wisteria Lane (yes, I watch that garbage of a show-I can't help myself!) Or the house the Walker Family has on "Brothers and Sisters." ;)
That being said, I wouldn't mind living on a island like they do in "Lost"...minus the 'Others' and the horrible monster. :) hehehe

You won Maurine. I'm jealous I didn't remember it. I was obsessed with Clarissa. I tried everything I could to make my room look like hers.

It's funny that I didn't know you liked Clarissa so much. Remember when she got to see Pearl Jam? Or did she end up having to hang out with her grand parents? I can't remember. Or when she became an advice columnist and told someone to get a tatoo, or her pet alligator? Ahhh, the memories are flooding back. Who do kids have now to give them crazy ideas? Japanese anime`?

Zack and cody on the disney channel are really mischeivious. I'm a little afraid that madison likes that show. She has enough ideas on herown without watching them.

I'm hoping our kids get crazy ideas from us. Me and Zach are weird enough. But they'll probably just think we're losers.
I've heard about Zach and Cody. They scare me. I'm beginning to think we really will be one of "those families" who just doesn't have a tv. Or at least not one that gets any channels. Does that make me a freak?

no, I don't that makes you a freak at all Katie. Just a concerned responsible parent. There isn't a whole lot of wholesome tv out there for our kids. Zach and Cody really isn't that bad. It's actually one I approve of because while they are mischeivious there mother is an active participant and has discipline for them.

Nickelodian is the one that upsets me the most. Every parent on every show they make out to be complete idiots. None of them really are in their kids lives as positive influences they are all just stupid and oblivious most of the time.

We have 3 tv's at our house, but the last few months I have forced my children to discover childhood by using their backyard and only having the tv on for maybe an hour. I am one of "those parents" who limit their screen stimulation (aka tv computer and video games) and I'm proud of it! My kids don't argue as much aren't as lazy and angry, they play with each other and talk to each other. I really notice a change in my son. When he plays video games he gets mean. The first few weeks it was bad. Tempers flew, they wanted their tv but now, it's not a big deal. So don't feel bad, it is better for kids and your household all together.

oh, i will say though that we will probably always have channels, because withut my husbands sports and food network, he would be a little......cranky. And I must say I LOVE my HGTV.

Katie, we have a TV, but we don't buy cable or anything to go with it. So Bryant can only watch PBS and the only thing he likes on it--correction--he loves Curious George. I don't like Bryant being exposed to advertisement because he's only ever seen a kids commercial a few times and instantly he's like "I want it now!" Okay...great idea for next weeks mom question coming right now! Anyways, there is significant research that says that children should not be exposed to TV until the age of two, and then in very limited amounts there after.

I really don't know what to think about the computer though. Bryant has always been fascinated by it, and in the last six months he has figured out how to use it. He goes to pbskids.org and a WONDERFUL websight called www.starfall.com. As some of you know Bryant has literal unending amounts of energy, and he can get overwhelmed by his desire to move and mess and figit quite easily and I love that the computer allows him to explore and interact in a constructive way. He is also literally learning to read. The starfall websight has taught him so much about letter sounds and rules to the English language; it has helped me in my quest to teach him how to read. So I consider it a positive influence. Bryant just turned 3 and can already spell several words, so I don't mind him using the computer!
