Check Please!

Okay, so we're all getting a bunch of money as part of the stimulus package to save the economy from the government. Wopee! Or not? What do you think about the plan? And more importantly, how are you going to spend it!!! Savings? Big screen? Do tell.

Well, although I welcome any extra cash thrown my way...I'm not 100% sure if this will boost the economy like some think it will? Either way, money is money though, I won't complain. :)
We're prob going to put some towards paying credit cards and spend some of it. I know one thing-about $100 of it will pay for our once a year Anniversary dinner at The Melting Pot! :)

I haven't decided what we will do with our money. There are many things we could do, but it's not enough to me to make that big of difference. Maybe we will spend some on the house remodeling, or pay off my new laptop, or save it. Or maybe all of the above.
I like your car you picked out. Will that be your car or you DH's? :-)

lol... Paying down some credit cards. woooooohoooo! That sucks... but it'll be better in the long run right? RIGHT??? lol I wish Ryan would go ahead and buy his dang apple computer with it so he'll LEAVE ME ALONE, but I'm sure that won't happen.

First of all, no that car is not ours. The picture just ended up on our computer somehow. Secondly, I think the government taking money we really don't have and giving it to us hoping that we'll all spend it is not a great idea. We got into trouble because people got into too much debt and took out home loans they couldn't afford. And now the government is saying the solution to too much spending is...more spending!!! Right. Well, I'm not sending my check back! We've talked about it a lot, and we're going to spend a portion of it on food storage/emergency preparedness (yes, we're obsessed with "being prepared"), and then save the rest. We've got our eye on a great wheat grinder, a bread machine and a food saver. Woohoo!

My first thought on using it was also for food storage and such. And maybe some of it will. But we put new windows in our house and that will be our first priority when we get all of our taxes back. We should have some left over which is exciting! But knowing Zach, we'll save a hunk too.
And yeah, more spending is not the answer to the problem. I'm sure they're hoping that people will use it wisely to help themselves get out of debt. Unfortunately I doubt most people will use it that way. "Sweet! More stuff!"
If I was going to just spend it, I'd buy more Fuzzi Bunz, I'd tile my bathroom and kitchen, and I'd get a nice couch. :)

I have to say that I don't think this "stimulus" package will stimulate much of anything. I suppose the government wants us to go out and spend it on some kind of thing; however, most people will just be paying down debt.

Additionally, this solution is NOT a long term solution. For example, I'm fortunate enough to be in a position that when I get my check, I won't have debt to pay down. I will buy a table, but that will be it. So, i guess my stimulus check will stimulate the economy for a day.

Our government needs to think of something that will have long-term effects. (ie: lowering taxes on a long-term basis; cutting government spending). And we have to assume responsibility by lowering our expenditures.

Essentially both Uncle Sam and Joe Schmoe need to do the same thing - spend less than we make.

(I will admit - YAY for the check. and YAY for a table!)

I'll tell you what i'm happy about. MY KIDS FINALLY PULLING THEIR WEIGHT!!! J/K. Nathan and I don't know what we are going to do with it. Probably pay down debt, or save it. I will admit to the thoughts of a nice paver patio in my backyard calling my name, but i don't know that that's the most responsible thing. One thing i thought was hilarious was that pres. bush asked people to not pay down there debts and to go out and spend the money. GREAT IDEA!!!! ): I do have to admit though, I am excited about the money!
