Sign of the Times

Okay, how's everyone doing on their food storage? Does anyone believe reports that there is a possible food shortage on the horizon or that prices are going to sky rocket? How important is food storage to you? Are you scared? Are you prepared? (thanks steph for the question idea!)

I do believe what they are saying.
I do have some things ready. But I always feel like I need more all the time. I want a garden, but I have DOGS! BIG dogs!

I have to say, I have my food storage, and it is SEXY.

I'm not scared. Do I think that there's a food shortage? Perhaps, but when you are prepared, you won't fear.

I have really been feeling strongly lately that I need to get this taken care of. I even decided that my patio wasn't as important and went and spent my money on food storage instead. I do have a hole in my front yard where my patio is supposed to be, but I also have a good food storage supply now. I'm not where i want to be but i'm alot better off.

And yes, i do think we have higher prices coming and maybe even a food shortage too. Sams and costco have already started limiting the amount of rice you can buy. SCARY!! And also on yahoo there was a wall street journal article saying americans need to stock their pantries and in quoted " THIS IS NOT A DRILL." It said that we all think it will never happen in america but companies are not going to be able to eat the cost, so we are going to see it in our grocery stores.

GET YOUR FOOD STORAGE PEOPLE. It save you money, you can only buy stuff when it's on sale if you have enough in storage.

Erick and I don't have what we need yet, but we are on our way. We have made goals for not only food storage, but for fuel and water storage as well. We are slowly but surely meeting them (and will get a lot closer with our money from the stimulus package). I honestly don't know if there are drastic food price increases on the way or not, but I feel like as long as Erick and I strive to increase our supply and make it a priority over buying things that are not essential we will be taken care of.

If you guys want to know something a little on the far side...Erick even bought me a bike off Craig's list and we have a little stroller/attachment thingy so if things get rough and there's no gas and cars are useless, I can just throw the kids in the back and pedal away!!! Erick is good at thinking of worst-case scenarios.

Let me just say, if things ever get to that point where I have no husband and am pedaling my kids away from something, I'm probably not going to make it. But I thought he was cute for putting the thought into it.

On the other hand though, if there is no gas and the world is not crazy/dangerous, it would be great for haulin' veggies around and other stuff.

one thing people can start doing that is really easy if you drink soda is buy the liter bottles then clean them out and fill them with water when your done. Simple easy and effective. I need the big stuff now like a generator and gas. I'm a little afraid to store a lot of gas at the house though.
